Forged caps typically refer to bearing caps, main caps, or structural caps used in engines or heavy machinery that are manufactured through forging instead of casting. These components are critical for holding rotating parts like crankshafts or axles in place, and forging makes them much stronger and more durable under extreme loads.

Forged caps are made from solid metal billets usually steel or high-strength alloys. The billet is heated and compressed under high pressure into the shape of the cap. This aligns the metals grain structure, making it much stronger and resistant to cracking or deformation compared to cast or machined caps.

Common types:

*Main caps Hold the crankshaft in place inside the engine block.

*Rod caps Secure the connecting rods to the crankshaft.

*Axle caps Lock axle shafts or differential components in place.

*Structural or bearing caps Used in industrial machinery for load-bearing assemblies.

*Extreme strength Can withstand high RPM, boost pressure, or torque.

*Superior fatigue resistance Ideal for repeated stress cycles.

*Better heat tolerance Performs well under high thermal loads.

*Precision Forged caps can be machined to exact tolerances, ensuring proper fit and alignment.

*Higher cost Forged caps are more expensive than cast alternatives.

*Requires precision machining Improper machining can compromise performance.
